While school isn't in session, The YAK utilizes our summer months to run a program called YAKventures! This is a FREE program that has been created to encourage youth to UNPLUG, GET OUTDOORS, and EXPERIENCE all the health benefits of nature!

ALL youth in 6th-12th grade are encouraged to join us! Simply have a parent or guardian download and fill out the attached 2022 YAKventure Packet then bring it by The YAK to get your name on our list for that week's adventure! Contact us with any questions!

We have two passenger vans and amazingly skilled and passionate leaders that load up our vans and spend 8 hours/day, twice/week within the wilds of Alaska hiking, swimming, canoeing, fishing, bouldering, or just playing in the mud!

These adventures are extremely necessary for our plugged-in youth and we have seen a tremendous positive change in their lives because of it! This project benefits our community by encouraging our youth to get physically and mentally healthy while promoting environmental awareness, appreciation, and stewardship to our next generation. The program also opens up amazing opportunities to mentor and encourage our youth.

Since this program is FREE, it allows many youth amazing opportunities to explore our beautiful environment that they wouldn't be able to experience otherwise!
